Someting completely different (Opera video)

This video was created for the Oslo Science Fair this weekend, where Mom’s master thesis subject had a stand with the Norwegian institute for water science (NIVA). The captions are in Norwegian, and just say how reduced pollution in the inner fjord has made it possible for different lifeforms to return. You can see underwater footage of the Opera steps and a bit of the Opera (and all the curious tourists watching).

Enjoy!

Spring!

Mom’s been really BORING all year, apparently the whole figuring out a thesis and having more classes than regular all at once is making her tired or something. Lazy thing.. Anyways.. She had a bout of energy a while back and stuck some seeds in the ground, then left it all alone until most of the emerging plants had almost succumbed to mold and mosses.. But the last week or so she’s been trying to save the things, giving them a bit of air and wind to dry out the surface and perhaps even keep the mold and such in check.

But – despite horrible growing condition the beans and cucumbers are actually flowering!

And we’ve even got a few beans!

Mom has stuck more seeds in the ground, and today we went about outside and looked at little bitty plants sticking their noses up into the sun and warmth.. Spring is here!

Happy Friday

Hi everyone!

Thank you for all your kind words about Bajas. It was a sad and strange weekend, but also so very touching to see how one little pug can affect people all over the world. Of course he was the very best one, but still… Gummi and I and the curlies had lots of time to snuggle over the weekend and since then it’s been just plain crazy at the University. Things go back to normal there next week (intensive intro course over 8 days), but I’m working this weekend so might still not have too much time for fun.

Here’s a photo from the weekend. Gummi and I had a lovely walk both days, even quite exciting on Saturday but we’ll get back to that one later.

Tonight we’ll just snuggle on the couch!

Please note Gummi actually sleeping on the couch!!! It’s a miracle. Not sure if he’s still sad or actually growing up..

Either way he’s pretty darn cute!

Hugs to all!

MomDay Morning – on Stupid People

Okay – so we shared this link on Facebook last night when we discovered it, but couldn’t help posting it here as well! It’s about poorly socialized humans who think they can terrorize other dog owners at their pleasure just because they have only two brain cells and no ability to think.

Wonderful illustration by Lili Chin @ http://www.doggiedrawings.net

We encourage all our friends to go over here and read this article: http://jessdolce.tumblr.com/post/13560756717/my-dog-is-friendly-a-public-service-announcement

We haven’t been in that sort of situation for a while, actually, now that we’re in the middle of nowhere. But just thinking about it makes me mad.. I don’t even really care whether the dog has any issues or not, you should ASK before letting your dog approach another dog you don’t know. It’s really that simple. I once worked on only letting Bajas meet dogs after having gotten permission to do so. How well does that when all the “friendly” Golden Retrievers come up and say hi anyway? If you have a MDIF (or more) in your area perhaps you should print out a few copies and hand them out at walks?! ;)

Come take a walk in our garden!

Today is a gray, wet and miserable day around here. So – we thought we’d take you for a virtual stroll around our garden to see what’s going on there at the moment.

Our butterfly nasturtium! It’s climbing on and alongside our Lemon Drop chillies.

Casper going for a walk in our garden.

Sometimes we help Mom in the flower beds. She’s somehow not always as impressed as she should be!

Can you see Virus checking out the veg patch? We’re starting to wonder if we’re getting baby corn rather than corn this year, if anything at all. This gray summer has not helped it grow fast enough we think.

Our cucumber plant is very productive and Mom eats at least one of this “Miniature White” cucumbers every day!

The kitties love playing in the garden! And Bajas and Gummi enjoy each other’s company even if they’re separated by a fence. Gummi still thinks Bajas is a big stuffed toy from time to time, and unless closely supervised they are separated.

Virus loves Bajas, Bajas thinks Virus can be a bit annoying from time to time.. LOL!

Our feathered poppies, “Venus”, are finally in bloom. Strange and funny more than pretty, perhaps, but we like them!

Bajas is a very good gardening assistant!

Pretty, pale yellow nasturtium “Ice Age” looks nice along the purple chillies of our “Filius Blue”.

We hope to get ripe tomatoes before the cold autumn is here. We’ll see..

At least the “Hundreds and Thousands” are providing tomatoes for us! They are really living up to their name :)

Hope you all have a nice Sunday!

Love,
the WriggleButts
